Phil has worked in and around healthcare and academic publishing for over fifteen years. In his current role, as Finance Director of BMJ, he regularly interacts with both external auditors and the BMJ board on governance and financial matters. Previously, his role as interim FD at Elvie introduced him to the impact a passionate, innovative approach to healthcare can have on people’s lives. Whilst at Pearson, his position in commercial finance involved the review and challenge of investment proposals, strategic plans and draft budgets, all focused on the UK public sector. Phil qualified as an accountant with Deloitte, after studying Modern History at New College.
