We are

We are the broken who watched our loves reach out for help for their tormented minds.
We are the broken who exhaled in the hope they were now in safe hands.
We are the broken who waited for a call to collaborate in their care.
After all it is us who knows them the best.
And while we wait with a false sense of safety, you feed into their brokenness, leaving them hopeless, wanting them gone from your sight, someone else’s problem.
No room at the inn.
We are the broken coming together to make up a whole because this just won’t do.
We are the mothers, the fathers, the sisters the brothers who are left to the pick up the pieces of your dysfunctional ‘care’.
We are the families who say this can’t be right and are left to fight for the truth.
Yes, we are left to fight as even after their untimely and preventable deaths your lack of care and compassion extends into our grief.
This can’t be right we say. This can’t be right the lawyers say. This can’t be right the Coroners say.
And still you are silent while we grieve. Your voices only heard to defend the indefensible.
There is another inquest, another family join us to help make us a whole.
And nothing changes.
We are the broken standing strong in our togetherness until something changes. Shall we start with compassionate care?
