Get Involved

We are building a network of families to help us to develop our work.

Can you spare some time and energy to help us?

The families we work with have been affected by circumstances such as:

  • neglect
  • medical errors
  • adult children with learning disabilities who died in receipt of services
  • friends or family who died by suicide (whether or not this was ruled as a suicide by a Coroner)
  • friends or family who died by homicide when the person who committed the crime was mentally ill.

Our work is driven by the power of hearing directly from families about their loved ones, their loss, their experiences of interacting with services and professionals. We enable families to create a legacy of change, to help keep their loved one’s memory alive, and support organisational learning and changing practice to reduce harm and keep people alive.

We are currently recruiting to volunteer roles as:

  • A member of our families’ panel, to be consulted regularly by us and invited to meet with others seeking to learn from Making Families Count – Apply now to join our Families’ Panel

We will provide online induction and support and cover all out of pocket expenses.
Please complete the online form telling us why you are interested and how you might be able to help us. Thank you.

Why join the Families Panel?

The panel provides a safe space to work within Making Families Count. Joining the panel can provide opportunities

  • To be part of a group and so feel less alone in your desire, purpose and ambition to get things changed.
  • To use your voice and to channel your desire for change
  • To feel listened to and understood.
  • To work together in a common cause.

You are welcome to get as involved as you want – depending on how you feel and what else is going on for you.
